Established in 1860 the David Brown Company had become a major gear wheel maker,
in 1936 the founders grandson, also named David Brown,
combined forces with Harry Ferguson to produce the Ferguson-Brown Type A tractor.
Over the following years David Brown continued to produce a range of very well engineered tractors until 1972
when the company was acquired by Tenneco owners of the Case Group.
The David Brown name continued to be used until 1983 when the Case 94 series was launched.

Harry Ferguson was born in County Down in 1884.
During the 1920's he sold the American Waterloo Boy Model N Tractor.
After having built his first tractor in 1933 he entered into an agreement with David Brown
to produce the Ferguson-Brown, the partnership was short-lived and anticipating the break-up,
he concluded an agreement with Henry Ford to produce Ferguson Tractors in Detroit U.S.A.
The First British production of the familiar gray "Fergie" commenced in 1946 with the launch of the TE 20 (Tractor England).
These were produced at the Standard Motor Company's Banner Lane Factory in Coventry.

The Fordson Super Major Tractor was the last major upgrade of the E1A range.
In 1962 the former blue and orange livery was replaced by a new colour scheme of mainly blue with white grill, mudguards and wheels.
